Box Score

Chicago, Ill.- A five-run eighth-inning outburst capped a stretch of eight unanswered runs during the UIC baseball team's 10-3 victory over Rockford College at Les Miller Field on Wednesday night.

Tony Altavilla went 4-for-5 and stole a pair of bases for the Flames (19-10). Team RBI leaders Brett Schaefer and Jason Ganek padded their totals with a pair of runs driven in.

Brad Riegler earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief against the Regents (9-8).

UIC trailed 3-2 after five and a half innings when the Flames scored three times in the bottom of the sixth. The first five hitters of the frame reached base, including three straight walks that forced in a pair of runs.

The Flames broke the game open in the eighth. Schaefer's two-run double put the cap on a five-run inning.

Wednesday's win was UIC's 13th consecutive home victory.

UIC hits the road for the next six games, beginning with a three-game set against Horizon League foe Youngstown State this weekend.
