    Box Score

Fairborn, Ohio - Wright State senior designated hitter Bryan Vickers connected for a walk-off solo home run off of University of Illinois at Chicago starting pitcher Ryan Hopkins, to lift the host Raiders to the doubleheader sweep with the 1-0 victory over the Flames in the nightcap on Saturday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium.

Hopkins (1-1), who retired the first 13 batters that he faced, was the tough luck loser for UIC, surrendering just four hits and striking out one batter in 6.1 innings of work. His counterpart, Wright State's Chris Snyder (2-4) was equally as masterful, tossing a complete-game, three-hit, shutout.

With the sweep, Wright State improves to 13-14 overall and 2-1 in Horizon League play, while the Flames drop to 14-11-1 on the campaign and 1-2 in conference action.

The Flames threatened Snyder several times, but were unsuccessful, stranding four runners in scoring position.

UIC senior third baseman Bryan Russo extended his hitting streak to 12 games, going 2-for-3 on the afternoon.

UIC and Wright State will complete the series on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. (CST).
