    Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago seniors Mike Hughes and Brad Ryan each collected three hits to propel the host Flames to the 8-3 non-conference victory over Western Illinois in their seriees finale on Saturday afternoon at Les Miller Field.

    Hughes went 3-for-3 with a RBI, while Ryan was 3-for-4 with a run scored.

    With the victory, UIC improves to 15-9 on the season, while Western Illinois falls to 12-21 overall.

    Senior third baseman Nelson Gord also chipped in three RBI for the Flames.

    Junior pitcher Tom Szalewski (2-1) earned the victory for UIC, allowing two runs and five hits in seven innings of work, while striking out four batters. Western Illinois' Tom Pazdernik (1-3) was felled with the loss, giving up four runs and seven hits in four innings.

    UIC will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon, as they will travel to Peoria, Ill., to square off with the Bradley Braves at 3:00 p.m.
