Chicago, Ill.- Brett Schaefer drove in three runs and rookie left-hander Eric Wyman allowed just one run in 5.2 innings to send the UIC baseball team to a 6-1 victory over visiting Chicago State at Les Miller Field on Tuesday night.

The Flames (15-8) won their third straight game and ninth consecutive home contest.

UIC padded a one-run lead in the third inning by scoring four times in the frame. Four straight singles to open the inning, a stretch capped by Schaefer's two-run base hit, highlighted the Flames' offensive effort.

Wyman struck out five to earn the victory in his first collegiate start.

Six UIC pitchers combined to strike out 11 Chicago State (3-21) hitters.

Ty Rubio reached base safely in all four of his plate appearances, going 2-for-2 at the dish with a pair of walks.

UIC heads to Peoria on Wednesday to face Bradley at O'Brien Field at 4 p.m.
