Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago junior designated hitter Justin Johnson went 4-for-5 with two homers, five RBI and four runs scored to lift the host Flames to the 12-4 non-conference victory over Chicago State at Les Miller Field on Sunday afternoon.

Johnson rocked Chicago State starter Nick Benish for a two-run shot in the first inning and followed that up with a three-run blast off Cougars' reliever Gary Ward in the sixth. He has torched Cougars' pitching during the series with his first four home runs in an UIC uniform.

With the victory, UIC improves to 12-8 on the season, while the Cougars fall to 1-21 overall.

The Flames also received three hits apiece from both senior shortstop Jordan DeVoir and senior first baseman Brad Ryan (3 RBI).

Senior reliever Eric Carlson (1-0) earned his first victory of the season, allowing three hits and one runs in 2.1 innings of work. Benish took the loss for the Cougars, allowing 10 hits and six runs in five innings of work.

UIC will be back in action on Tuesday night, as the Flames will square off with Western Michigan at 4:05 p.m. at Les Miller Field.
