Baseball Sweeps Chicago State, 18-0|

Chicago, Ill. - The University of Illinois at Chicago baseball team posted 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back as the Flames picked up the 18-0 non-conference victory over Chicago State in the nightcap of their doubleheader at Les Miller Field on Saturday afternoon.
UIC has now scored 60 runs against Chicago State so far in this series.
Senior shortstop Jordan DeVoir led UIC offensively, going 4-for-5 with four RBI and one run scored, while teammate Justin Johnson went 1-for-4 with four RBI.
Junior second baseman Bryan Russo continues to torch Chicago State pitching, as he went 3-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBI. For the series, Russo is batting 11-for-13 against Cougars' hurlers.
With the victory, UIC improves to 11-8 on the season, while Chicago State falls to 1-20 overall.
Junior lefthander Ryan Gehring earned the victory for UIC, allowing three hits and striking out two batters in six innings to improve to 3-2 on the season. At one point, Gehring retired 11 batters in a row.
Luis Reynoso (0-1) took the loss for Chicago State, allowing 10 runs and seven hits in one inning of work.
The series will conclude on Sunday afternoon, with the first pitch slated for 12:05 p.m.
