Baseball Continues Offensive Attack Against Chicago State, 23-0

Chicago, Ill. - The offensive onslaught continued for the University of Illinois at Chicago baseball team, as the host Flames pounded out 24 hits and cruised to the 23-0 non-conference victory over Chicago State at Les Miller Field in Game One of their twinbill on Saturday afternoon.
Senior rightfielder Mike Hughes and junior catcher Justin Johnson went a combined 8-for-10 with 11 RBI and six runs scored. Hughes went 4-for-6 with six RBI and three RBI and was a homer short of the cycle, while Johnson connected for his second homer in as many days, finishing 4-for-4 with five RBI and four runs scored.
Seniors Jordan DeVoir (3 runs) and Brad Ryan (3 RBI, 3 runs) also tallied four hits apiece for the Flames.
With the victory, UIC improves to 10-8 on the season, while Chicago State falls to 1-19 overall.
Junior left-hander David Haehnel allowed three hits and struck out eight batters in six innings of work to improve to 2-2 on the season. Chicago State starter Paul Darby dropped to 1-5 on the season, giving up eight runs and 12 hits in three innings.
