    Homestead, Florida - Hitting was at a premium on Saturday afternoon as the University of Illinois at Chicago baseball team used a nine-run eighth inning to out-slug Lafayette, 18-11, at the Homestead Sports Complex.

    Freshman second baseman Bryan Russo (Davie, Fla./American Heritage) was a home run short of a cycle on Saturday afternoon as he led UIC (12-3) with three hits and four RBI.

    Junior right fielder Curtis Granderson (Lynwood, Ill./T.F. South) also turned in an impressive performance at the dish, as he was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Sophomore third baseman Nelson Gord (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Buffalo Grove) also went 3-for-5, including an RBI on Saturday.
