Homestead, Florida - University of Illinois at Chicago senior right-hander Larry Banks (Cicero, Ill./Nazareth) tossed a seven strikeout, seven-hitter for a 5-1 complete-game victory over Harvard on Friday morning at the Homestead Challenge.

Junior designated hitter Weber Bowen (Minneapolis, Minn./Blake School) led the charge offensively for UIC (11-3) at the plate, going 2-for-2 with three RBI. Senior center fielder John Rosner (Ottawa, Ill./Marquette) also chipped in with two hits and two runs scored.

UIC got things rolling in the top of the third inning as Curtis Granderson (Lynwood, Ill./T.F. South) plated Mike Bruszer (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) with an RBI groundout with the bases loaded.

Bowen then drove both Rosner and Mike Hughes (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Fremd) with an RBI single to give the Flames a 4-0 lead.

UIC will be back in action on Saturday, as they will square off with Lafayette at 1:30 P.M.
