    Homestead, Florida - Senior southpaw Wes Gilliam (South Holland, Ill./Thornwood) fanned eight batters in seven innings of work as the University of Illinois at Chicago baseball team defeated Drexel, 11-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Homestead Challenge.

    Junior Weber Bowen (Minneapolis, Minn./Blake School) led UIC (8-3) offensively as he went 3-for-4 at the dish with five RBI. The Flames also received solid performances from both Curtis Granderson (Lynwood, Ill./T.F. South), who was 3-for-5, and John Rosner (Ottawa, Ill./Marquette), who was 2-for-5 with a RBI.

    UIC and Drexel will square off again on Monday afternoon at 1:15 PM (CST).
