Lafayette, La. - UL-Lafayette pitcher Jordy Templet held the University of Illinois at Chicago baseball team hitless over the final 7 2/3 innings to help the host Ragin' Cajuns break a 10-game losing streak with a 7-1 non-conference victory over the Flames on Monday night at M.L.T. Moore Field.

Tromblay earned the complete-game victory for UL-Lafayette, allowing only two hits on the evening, while striking out nine batters.

With the victory, UL-Lafayette improves to 6-17 on the campaign, while the Flames fall to 2-7.

UL-Lafayette shortstop Corey Coles turned in an impressive performance as he went 3-for-3, including the game-winning two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Freshman pitcher John Flood (0-1) turned in an admirable performance for UIC as he allowed three runs on three hits in 7 2/3 innings of work. The eighth inning, however, proved to be his downfall as the Ragin' Cajuns tagged him for four runs to put the game out of reach for the visiting Flames.

UIC earned their only run in the second inning as senior left fielder Chuck Peters drew a one-out walk from Templet and advanced to third on a Weber Bowen single. Senior catcher Kevin Nelson plated Peters with a RBI double to right-center to give the Flames a 1-0 lead. That was the last UIC hit of the night.

UIC will be back in action on Tuesday night, as they will travel to Thibodaux, Lousiana to take on Nicholls State at 6:30 p.m.
