    1999: Turned in a strong junior season, both on the mound and at shortstop, and for his effort was selected to the MCC All-Newcomer Team?at the plate, he registered a .255 batting average with 18 RBI and 18 runs scored?led UIC as well as the MCC with 13 sacrifice hits?had five multiple-hit games during the season with one of his best showings a 2-for-3, two runs scored outing against Western Michigan?helped UIC to three victories over Detroit with a .333 batting average?on the mound, he compiled a pair of double-digit strikeout games with 11 K's versus Butler and Cleveland State?finished the year with a 7.79 ERA, a 2-6 record and 48 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched?earned his first win of the year against Cleveland State as he tossed seven complete innings and allowed just three scattered hits while striking out 11?also earned a 13-0 victory at Detroit as he went five complete innings, gave up just three hits and fanned a pair?finished with a 4.46 ERA in league games.

    Prior to UIC: Began his collegiate career at Viterbo College in La Crosse, Wis., under current Flames' assistant coach Sean McDermott...as a freshman, he compiled a 4.46 earned run average with a 6-4 record...in 64.1 innings pitched, he fanned 55 batters while walking 22 and in 10 starts completed four games...at the plate, he batted .250 with one run scored and one hit in four at bats...as a sophomore, he lowered his ERA to 3.54 with a 3-1 record in five starts...worked 31.2 innings and struck out 24 while walking five...finished with a .211 batting average and in 57 at bats, he registered 12 hits, four doubles, nine runs and seven runs batted in.

    Prep/Personal: Played his high school ball at Barrington High School and lettered two seasons as a pitcher and infielder...helped the Broncos earn two Mid-Suburban North Conference titles...born October 3, 1978...son of Tim and JoAnne McNichols...majoring in Kinesiology.
