2008: Started 14 games...made 19 total appearances on the hill...posted a 4.07 earned run average in 90.2 innings of work...went 6-5...struck out 33 hitters...went 3-1 down the stretch and allowed just five earned runs in his final 29.1 innings of work on the year...pitched a pair of complete games...won three consecutive starts heading into the NCAA College Station Regional, where he was the Flames' opening game starter against Texas A&M on May 30...picked up first Division I win with three innings of one-hit ball against Illinois on Mar. 2...scattered six hits and allowed just one earned run during a seven-inning gem in the rain at Wright State on Mar. 30...allowed just five hits in going the distance at Youngstown State on Apr. 12...allowed just two runs (one earned) in a complete-game victory over Cleveland State on May 11...did not allow an earned run in getting the win during an eight-inning start against Valparaiso on May 16...defeated Valpo for the second time in six days by giving up just two earned runs and matching a season-high of four strikeouts in 7.1 innings in the Flames' Horizon League Championship opener on May 22.

Prior to UIC: Pitched for two years at Black Hawk College in Moline, Ill....won Arrowhead Conference and sectional titles with the Braves in 2006...two-time Academic All-Arrowhead...posted a 3.26 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 52.1 innings of work in 2007.

Prep/Personal: Lettered for three seasons as a pitcher and shortstop for Davenport Central High School...earned All-Mississippi Athletic Conference, All-District, All-State and Mississippi Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors as a senior in 2005...guided the Blue Devils to a conference crown in 2005...posted a 1.83 ERA with 59 strikeouts in 57.1 innings as a senior...went 8-2 with a pair of saves in his final prep campaign...at the plate hit .418, drove in 51 runs, scored 27 runs and hit 13 doubles as a senior...born March 12, 1987...son of Ron and Sherryl Kool...majoring in communications.
