1999: In his junior season, he started at first base in 17 games while playing in a total of 25 outings?tallied a .246 batting average with 13 RBI and nine runs scored?missed 12 games during the mid-season with a knee injury?batted .323 during the team's spring trip to Florida, including a 2-for-3, five-RBI, three-runs-scored performance against Southern Connecticut State?had five multiple-hit games during the year.

1998: As a sophomore, made four appearances on the mound and also played at first base in six games while starting against West Virginia Wesleyan...finished the year with a .200 batting average and one RBI...on the hill, he compiled a 10.13 ERA in 2.2 innings pitched...contributed one complete inning with a strikeout to UIC's 24-3 win over Maryland Eastern Shore.

1997: In his freshman season, saw action at first base, as designated hitter and on the mound...finished with a 4.50 ERA on the hill and held opponents to a .200 batting average...made three consecutive appearances without giving up an earned run...at the plate, he tallied a .212 batting average with seven hits, five RBI and three runs scored...one of his best outings was a 2-for-3 showing with two runs scored versus Cleveland State...in UIC's 6-3 win over Northern Illinois, he tripled with the bases loaded to put the Flames ahead, 4-1.

Prep/Personal: Lettered four seasons at Marist High School...as a senior, posted an 11-2 record on the mound while earning East Suburban Catholic All-Conference Honorable Mention...as a junior, the Redskins finished with a 24-9 record and went on to win the conference championship...also played basketball and golf at Marist...born August 29, 1978...son of Duane and Diane Hughes...a Finance major.
