Appeared in 18 games, the second most among all pitchers, and started nine contests ... capped his junior season with a 4-6, 3-2 HL, record along with the team's third-best ERA of 3.60 ... aided in a pair of shutouts against Youngstown State (03/29) and Michigan (05/05) ... struck out 39 across 70.0 innings pitched ... in his first appearance of the season against Mississippi Valley State (02/14), tossed 8.0 innings and struck out a career-high eight batters for the win ... was dominant on the mound versus Youngstown State as he threw 7.0 innings, gave up no runs and allowed a mere three hits.
Made 13 appearances and 12 starts as a normal fixture in UIC's weekend rotation ... ended the year with a 3-4 record and an ERA 6.47 with 18 strikeouts over the course of 57.0 innings ... began the season with a strong showing against Lamar on Feb. 15, allowing just four hits and zero earned runs in 5 1/3 frames ... tossed a gem at home against Milwaukee on March 30, giving up just four hits and zero runs over eight innings of work ... posted a career-high five strikeouts against Youngstown State on April 6 in seven frames ... finished the season strong by picking up two wins in his final four starts, while giving up a mere five earned runs in 20 2/3 innings.
Appeared in 20 games and started six contests in his freshman season with UIC ... made his collegiate debut against No. 24 Texas A&M on Feb. 16, allowing a mere eight hits and four runs in seven innings with a season-high four strikeouts ... earned his first win on March 16 versus Youngstown State, giving up just one run in eight frames ... tied for the team lead with three saves on the year after picking up his first against Valparaiso on April 5 ... ended the season with a 4-5 record, a 5.09 ERA and 25 strikeouts ... his 53.0 innings on the season ranked tied for third on the team.
PREP/PERSONAL: Andersen came to UIC from Fremd High School, where he compiled a 9-2 record during his senior season with the Vikings. The 6-foot 4-inch righty owned a 1.90 earned run average and totaled 71 strikeouts in just 70 innings pitched in 2012 and carried a .305 batting average. Andersen piloted Fremd to its fourth-straight Mid-Suburban League title in May of 2012. Currently enrolled as a Marketing major.
