2012 COLLEGE DANCE TEAM WORKSHOP Open to ANY high school aged student who plans on auditioning for a college dance team! Students will have the opportunity to train with UIC's professional & award winning coaches, and former UIC Dancers. We will go through technique & combinations (hip hop, jazz & pom) just like an actual audition! Come learn about the college audition process, as well as hair, makeup& interview techniques from a Division I program. Be prepared for your college auditions and gain the insight on how a college dance team can prepare YOU for professional opportunities in dance! UIC DANCE TEAM AUDITION WEEKEND
1ST ROUND AUDITIONS-- SATURDAY, MAY 12TH * 9AM-3PM * Cost: $20 * UIC Physical Education Building Dance Studio (901 w. Roosevelt Rd) *
AUDITION ELIGIBILITY: Spring tryouts are open to individuals who have applied or have been accepted by UIC, Fall Semester 2012. All participants, including transfer students and current team members, must have a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average and have graduated from high school.
TRYOUT PROCESS: The tryout will consist of learning both a hip hop and a jazz routine. In addition you will be asked to perform technical skills for the judges. This may be done individually or in the form of a progression. The last section is the Interview session. There may be cuts at any time during the audition. The final decisions are made by the coaching staff and a tryout selection committee.
ATTIRE:
Please wear your best! This includes full hair and stage makeup~!!
INTERVIEW
Please have a business casual outfit for the Interview portion of Sundays final audition!!!
SKILLS: You will be asked to execute the skills listed below for tryouts. If you haven't mastered all skills, do not be discouraged. We are not necessarily looking for perfection at this time, but we do want you to concentrate and perfect the skills that play to your strengths. In addition to the skills listed, you will be observed throughout the clinics on your attitude, ability to learn and make changes, enthusiasm, projection and overall performance. We will be looking for current and potential skills to become a collegiate dancer.
