UIC Community Assist Program

"I would like to thank you for making so many young people and their chaperones some of the happiest people in the city of Chicago.

None of the youngsters had ever been to a college basketball game before. It's just a great feeling to know that there are some programs, such as yours, that still remember the not-so-fortunate youth within the inner-city that would never get this opportunity without your help."

- Dorado Evans, Youth Leader, Ashburn UMC

"In so many ways, I depend on the generosity of good people to provide a safe and nurturing home for our children. Kids come to our door believing that no one cares what happens to them. But your support helps me prove to them that Mercy's family will give them love and guidance as they work to rebuild their lives.

Thanks again for your generosity and for being a part of our family."

- Fr. Scott Donahue, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls

A Commitment to the Community

For the past 10 years, the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has directed the UIC Community Assist Program which is dedicated to forging a relationship between Chicagoland youth groups, schools, non-profit organizations, area corporations, foundations, and UIC. As a result of this program, thousands of Chicago area youth have been granted the special opportunity of attending a UIC Flames athletic event - a chance that, for many, may not have otherwise been possible. Last year alone, over 250 local organizations participated in the program.
