EVANSTON, Ill. – The UIC baseball team closed its four-game road trip Tuesday afternoon, as it traveled to Northwestern for its second game of the season against the Wildcats.
- The Wildcats opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning, putting up four runs including a solo home run from Griffin Arnone.
- The Flames would waste no time answering the Wildcats, as UIC would go on to score 14 runs in the visiting half of the second inning, batting around the lineup two complete times. UIC sent 28 batters to the plate in the second inning alone, highlighted by a two-run home run from Cole Conn and a grand slam from Breck Nowik.
- The third inning was also kind to UIC, as the Flames would go on to tally eight more runs, highlighted again by a grand slam, this time off the bat of Jackson Bessette, to run the score to 22-4.
- The Wildcats began chipping away at the Flames lead in the bottom of the fourth, putting up seven runs to run the score to 22-11.
- UIC would tally a run in the fifth as well as one in the seventh, but the Wildcats would not surrender, scoring six runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth, bringing the final score to 24-20 in favor of the Flames.
- Jackson Bessette had a monster day at the plate for the Flames, going five for six including a grand slam, driving in five runs on the day.

The Flames will return to action this weekend in the Missouri Valley Conference, as they welcome Missouri State to Curtis Granderson Stadium for a three-game series beginning Friday night.
