TAMPA BAY, FLA. – UIC softball (0-10) finished their first day at the USF Invitational falling to Michigan State (6-4), 7-1 and #5 Clemson (13-0), 9-2 Friday.
MICHIGAN STATE
- Senior Alannah Cran started the third inning off for UIC hitting a single to left field. Junior Anna Walker hit her home with an RBI single.
- Cran and fellow senior Carlee Jo Clark later in the inning also recorded singles
- Clark pitched 4.1 innings for the Flames in the circle. She struck out one and relied on her defense for her 11 other put outs. Junior Miranda Gomez came in for relief midway through the fourth inning. She pitched 2.2 innings for the Flames, allowing four hits and striking out two.
#5 Clemson
- The Flames were first to score Clark scored on a wild pitch after hitting a double earlier in the second inning.
- In the third, the Flames had runners on when Walker scored from third on a fielder's choice from Hailey Crowing.
- Christina Toniolo pitched all six innings, walking three and striking out four Tigers.
The Flames return to the diamond Saturday to take on #12 Tennessee (6-1) at 4:30 p.m. ET That game will be followed by UIC facing USF (4-8) at 7:02 p.m. ET. The contest against the Bulls will be the only Flames contest available to stream on ESPN+ the entire weekend at the USF Invitational.
