CHICAGO - UIC gymnast
Christopher Root has been named the ECAC Specialist of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday morning. This is his second award from the conference in his UIC career after earning Rookie of the Week during the 2014 season as a freshman.
Â
The Cartersville, Ga. senior and co-captain posted a trio of second-place finishes for the Flames this past weekend in their defeat against William & Mary on Saturday. Â On rings, Root tallied a team high of 13.600, followed by a 13.500 on parallel bars and 13.150 on high bar. His scores on rings and p-bars were personal bests for him this season.
Â
Root and the Flames will return to action Sunday, Feb. 26, when they welcome No. 17 Nebraska to the UIC Pavilion with competition set to begin at 2 p.m. CT.
