    Alvarez Tabbed as HL Offensive Player of the Week

    UIC junior forward Jorge Alvarez has been named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week for the period of Sept. 15-21, as announced by the conference office on Monday. This is the second accolade of Alvarez's career and the third weekly honor for the Flames this season.

    Stephenee Yancy Earns Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week

    Junior middle blocker Stephenee Yancy (Aroma Park, Ill./Kankakee/Western Michigan) has been named the Horizon League's "Offensive Player of the Week" for the period of Sept. 15-21, it was announced by the conference office Monday morning. This is the second weekly honor for UIC this season and Yancy's first career Horizon League award.

    Flames to Open Conference Play at Milwaukee on Wednesday

    The UIC women's soccer team (1-8-0) will play its first Horizon League match of the inaugural season on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at Milwaukee (3-6-0) inside Engelmann Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CT, and can be seen live on the Horizon League Network.

    Softball Records 3-0 Shutout Victory against Kirkwood CC

    The UIC softball team continued its fall season this past Saturday (Sept. 20) and came away with a 3-0 shutout win against Kirkwood Community College to remain undefeated with a 3-0 record. The Flames second game against Northern Illinois was eventually cancelled due to unplayable field conditions.

    Flames Outlast DePaul in Double Overtime, 2-1

    The UIC men's soccer team (4-2-1) battled back from a 1-0 deficit to secure a 2-1 (2OT) victory against DePaul (3-3-1) on Saturday night at Flames Field. Junior Jorge Alvarez netted the game-winner and his second goal of the match in the 104th minute on a field-length kick from sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Putna.
