Denny Wills has been a part of the UIC family since 1987, and in 2010, was named Senior Associate Athletic Director, where he is responsible for sport operations and support services.
From 2008-10, Willis served as the Special Assistant to Athletics, where he was liaison for the NCAA Third Cycle Certification, overseeing all internal operations.
Wills served as UIC's Associate Athletic Director from 1999-2008, overseeing sport operations and was in charge of academics and NCAA Compliance. Prior to this, Wills was the Assistant Athletic Director, where he was responsible for counseling and advising 250 UIC student-athletes. He also assisted coaches with NCAA rules and regulations, and taught 300-level Kinesiology classes.
From 1987-96, Wills served as the Flames' Assistant Men's Basketball Coach, where he handled all administrative aspects including budget, travel arrangements, equipment ordering, and NCAA forms. In addition, he was in charge of academics, recruiting, and on-floor coaching.
Wills was the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Chicago State University from 1980-87, and served as the Head Men's Basketball Coach at St. Xavier from 1977-80. While at St. Xavier, he coached the team to a three year record of 61-39, and played post-season all three years.
While coaching at St. Xavier, Wills was the Dean of Discipline and History teacher at Saint Laurence High School. There he taught World History classes and served as one of three Deans responsible for all disciplining and student related matters.
Wills graduated in 1975 with his Bachelor of Arts in History from Saint Xavier, and received his Master of Arts in Educational Administration in 1980 from Saint Xavier as well. He earned a Master of Science in Education from Chicago State University in 1982, and his Type 75 Certification from Saint Xavier in 1997.
