Travis Bluemling has been with the Flames since 2012.
Prior to coming to UIC, Bluemling was a member of the United States Peace Corps, where he taught English as a Foreign Language. There he created lesson plans and material for sustainable teaching practices, led various clubs, and provided English lessons and tutoring to children and youth in the community.
From 2009-10, Bluemling was a Personal Trainer at the Wellness Center, where he worked directly with senior citizens on living a healthier lifestyle.
From 2006-08, Bluemling was a Student-Athlete Mentor, where he worked directly with six student-athletes on balancing their academic and athletic career. He also monitored their academic progress and tutored multiple subjects.
From 2004-08, Bluemling served as a counselor at the Mason Park Recreational Center, where he managed and organized activated for 300 urban children, and served as the youth volleyball coach and refereed youth basketball and volleyball.
While at Cal State-Northridge, Bluemling was a member of their Division 1 Volleyball team (2003-08), and was on the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Intercollegiate Academic Advisory Committee (2005-08), and Intercollegiate Related Activities Board (2005-2008).
Bluemling graduated Cal State-Northridge in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. He is fluent in Indonesian, and is currently working on his Masters in Youth Development at UIC.
