    UIC Student-Athletes Record Another Record-Setting Semester

    Flames' student-athletes post 3.0 for back-to-back semesters

    Sam Rush has served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Academic Services since 2007. Rush joined Athletics in 2002, initially serving as the Coordinator of Academic Services.

    In his current role, Rush oversees the operation of Athletics' Port Academic Center. He and his staff facilitate all the student-athletes' advising, course scheduling, academic mentoring and tutoring needs. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Rush serves as the primary athletics academic advisor for baseball, men's and women's gymnastics, women's golf, softball, and volleyball.

    Rush has served on the NCAA Third Cycle Re-Certification Committee and has participated in several campus-wide programs and committees, including the Campus Academic Advising Summit, the Supporting Excellence Endowment (SEE) Benefit Planning Committee, and the Student Affairs Staff Development Committee. He is also a member of N4A, The National Association of Athletics Academic Advisors.

    Prior to joining Athletics, Rush served as a lead academic counselor with UIC's African American Academic Network, from 1991 to 2002.

    Rush graduated from UIC in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and earned a Master of Arts degree in English/Writing from DePaul University.

    In addition to his responsibilities with Athletics, Sam serves as an adjunct faculty member with the City Colleges of Chicago.
