    Student-athletes spoke to students about importance of attending college

    Ryan Ptak has served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing and Game Promotions since June 2012, after serving a year as the Director of Marketing.

    As Assistant Athletic Director, Ptak has increased UIC Athletics revenue and also student attendance over the past four seasons. He oversees the marketing, ticket, community relation and game operation departments while coordinating marketing and communication with alumni, faculty/staff, community associations, UIC students, and the general public. He also directs and organizes all game operations for the men's basketball team.

    From 2011-12, Ptak was Director of Marketing where he increased ticket sales and student attendance, handled all collateral materials to increase involvement from the UIC Community, and controlled game operations for seven varsity sports.

    From 2009-11, Ptak served as the Assistant Director of Marketing, he introduced new methods to engage the Flames student body with the athletic teams, and served as a season ticket accountant executive that managed 37 ticket accountants.

    Ptak was the Community Assist Coordinator from 2008-09, where he oversaw the Community Assist Program, providing buses for at-risk and low income children from non-profits in Chicago to attend men's basketball games. He also corresponded with group leaders, booked group outings, arranged transportation, and handled game day procedures.

    Ptak graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism Management, and earned his Masters of Sports Administration with a Concentration in Sports Marketing at Northwestern University in 2011.
