    Carly Abate joined the Athletic Communications staff in Sept. of 2013.

    Since 2011, Abate has served as the Media Relations/Public Relations Game-Day Press Box assistant for the Chicago Bears. She prepares the press box during all home games, gathers quotes from home/visiting players/coaches and transcribes recordings for distribution to media, assists teams with interviews/press conferences, assists media and distributes in-game stat sheets.

    From May 2012-December 2012, Abate was the Communications Assistant at CushmanAmberg, where she worked collaboratively with the Vice President/Director of Communications. She also managed/assisted with the Mario Tricoci account and Mario, Make Me a Model campaign, wrote/edited/sent press releases to local media outlets, created media lists, managed social media websites, and assisted with scheduling meetings, sending mail, and helping with various projects.

    From 2010-12, Abate interned for the Chicago Blackhawks' Media Relations/Public Relations Department. There, she was a part of the Media Relations staff that won the 2011 Dick Dillman Award, prepared and coordinated the press box during all home games, gathered post-game quotes from home and visiting players/coaches for distribution to the media, assisted press/media with any potential questions/concerns, and gathered information for post-game notes/statistics for distribution.

    From 2010-12, Abate was also the Communications Intern for Intersport, where she worked collaboratively with the Director of Communications and Senior Director of New Media. She wrote, edited, and sent press releases to Sports Information Directors and media outlets nationally, managed social media websites for more than eight of Intersport's television properties, and assisted in greeting guests, scheduling travel, and scheduling and setting up conference rooms.

    Abate graduated from UIC in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
