UIC will continue upon the most grueling stretch of its 2012 schedule this week, heading to No. 23 SIU-Edwardsville in a non-conference showdown on Wednesday night, followed by hosting defending Horizon League regular season champion Valparaiso under the lights of Flames Field Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. The Flames are coming off a 1-1 draw at Wright State last Saturday in the Horizon League opener for both teams.

VOLLEYBALL
The UIC volleyball team will make the trip to northeast Ohio this weekend, traveling to Youngstown State on Friday, and taking on host Cleveland State Saturday in Horizon League action.

The Flames started out 2-0 in Horizon League play for the first time since 2008, after defeating Valparaiso (9/21/12) and Wright State (9/22/12) in a pair of four-set decisions at the Flames Athletic Center last weekend.

On the Ohio swing, UIC will be looking to start out 3-0 in League play for the first time since 2006, when the Flames began the Horizon League slate with an unblemished 5-0 record.

XC HEADS TO LOYOLA
The UIC men's and women's cross country teams, which have been idle since Saturday, Sept. 14, will compete in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational along Montrose Beach on Chicago's North Side this Saturday (Sept. 29) beginning at 11:15 a.m.

The new-look UIC women's tennis team will take the court for the first time during the fall season, taking part in the DePaul Invitational in Romeoville, Ill., Friday-Sunday, Sept. 28-30. The Flames have won 143-straight matches against Horizon League foes, the longest streak in NCAA Tennis history, men's or women's, and advanced to 11-straight NCAA Tournaments under head coach Shannon Tully.

Tully has replaced an illustrious senior class with three newcomers on the fall roster, including a pair of Division I transfers.

SWIMMING/DIVING RED-BLUE SCRIMMAGE SET FOR SATURDAY
The UIC men's and women's swimming & diving teams will participate in the annual Red vs. Blue Scrimmage at Flames Natatorium this Saturday (Sept. 29), beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Flames will open the regular season on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Wright State.

Notably, Flames Natatorium will serve as the host to the Horizon League Championship, Feb. 27-March 3, 2013.
