UIC Places 32 Student-Athletes On 2008 Horizon League Spring Academic Honor Roll
July 24, 2008 Chicago, Ill. - 32 student-athletes have been named to the Horizon League 2008 Spring Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced on Thursday. The track and field and cross country teams featured 11 student-athletes recognized for their academic and athletic feats over the past semester, with seven women and four men honored by the league. The volleyball team had five student-athletes present on the honor roll, followed by baseball and men's swimming, each of which had four members named. The women's tennis squad had three of its members recognized, softball and women's swimming featured two honorees, and men's tennis has one representative on the honor roll. For a Horizon League student-athlete to be named to an Academic Honor Roll, they must meet three criteria. The student-athlete must participate in at least one of the Horizon League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season; complete three semesters as a full-time student at the Horizon League member institution, and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale as of June 20, 2008.
