Chicago, Ill.- UIC Athletics added some extra fun to the 28th annual Taste of Chicago on Monday, June 30, setting up shop at the Taste Sports Pavilion on Columbus and Balbo for the day to offer up games and complimentary Flames items.
Coaches, student-athletes and staff were on hand to hand out UIC gear and apply temporary Flames tattoos while also conducting clinics and demonstrations.
Fans were able to sign up for Sparky's Kids Club and complete entry forms for a chance to win free tickets to the UIC men's basketball team's game against DePaul at the UIC Pavilion on Nov. 22.
Head men's basketball coach Jimmy Collins, head women's basketball coach Lisa Ryckbosch and her staff and student-athletes, head volleyball coach Nancy Mueller, head cross country/track and field coach Jim Knoedel, and student-athletes from the soccer, volleyball and gymnastics teams were on hand to spread sports tips and UIC Athletics information to Taste visitors.
Children of all ages were able to shoot some hoops, interact with soccer and volleyball student-athletes in action, watch gymnasts DeAvera Todd and Karen Morales perform a bevy of tumbling techniques, participate in spirited games of cornhole and enjoy the comic stylings of student staffer Nate Will.
