Chicago, Ill.- University of Illinois at Chicago Director of Athletics Jim Schmidt announced on Monday, June 9, that Rick Harrigan has joined the UIC Athletic Department as the Senior Associate Athletic Director.

Harrigan is no stranger to UIC or its athletic operations. He comes to UIC Athletics after serving as the Associate Director of Marketing for the entire UIC campus. The Hobart, Ind. native began at UIC in the athletics marketing office, where he worked for five years before becoming an Assistant Athletic Director at UIC and serving in that capacity for seven years.

In addition to his 12 previous years with UIC Athletics, he spent two and a half years directing the Sun Angel Foundation, Arizona State University's athletics fundraising arm that is now known as the Sun Devil Club.

In his new role with UIC Athletics, Harrigan will oversee the development, corporate sponsorship, marketing, broadcasting, sports information and ticket departments.
