UIC Athletics Hosts 2013 Spring Golf Outing|
June 6, 2013
LEMONT, Ill. - UIC Athletics hosted its annual spring golf outing at the historic Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, Ill. this past Wednesday as supporters of the Flames hit the links for a fun-filled day on the course. Participants of the event included sponsors, donors, athletic alumni, coaches, administrators and friends of UIC Athletics. Monies raised during the outing will be given to the UIC Athletic Scholarship Fund, which helps student-athletes receive financial aid.
Golf contests, raffle prizes and silent auction items made for a competitive afternoon among the outings' contingent. Teams of four played scramble-style as the quartet from team Apple Chevrolet took home `Lowest Team Score' honors with a round of 59. That squad included Andrew Ramus, Jason Geller, Ken Lehmann and Corey Benett. Hole No. 8 welcomed a `Closest to the Pin' contest as Maurice Rodgers answered the call, while Clarence Bridges won the accolade for `Longest Putt Made' on the 13th green. Ryan Strangers and Sharon Roberts mastered the tee box as they picked up the `Longest Drive' prize for a male and female, respectively.
After 18 holes of play, the group headed inside the clubhouse for a lunch reception. UIC Athletic Director Jim Schmidt personally thanked all attendees and invited head men's basketball coach Howard Moore and head women's tennis coach Shannon Tully to speak to the group.
