UIC Student-Athletes Turn in Another Impressive Semester|

CHICAGO - UIC student-athletes continue to make the grade in the classroom. During the 2013 Spring Semester, 11 UIC athletic teams achieved at least a 3.0 collective grade-point-average, while 28 individuals boasted a flawless 4.0 GPA, and 142 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll.
"We're proud to announce that nearly 60 percent of our athletic programs finished the spring semester with at least a 3.0 grade-point-average," said Athletic Director Jim Schmidt. "Being a Division I student-athlete is not easy, with the demands in the classroom, on the competition field and in the community. As a department, our student-athletes have averaged a near 3.0 cumulative GPA over the last five semesters, and that's something we're very proud of."
The UIC men's tennis team tallied the department's highest team GPA, achieving a mark of 3.64. The 17-time Horizon League Champion women's tennis team was just behind, securing a 3.62 GPA.
The Flames' softball team, which captured the regular season Horizon League Championship, secured with a 3.21 team GPA, as did the volleyball team, which finished second in both the Horizon League regular season and postseason tournament.
The UIC men's soccer team collected a team GPA of 3.2, while the women's indoor and outdoor track & field teams posted a 3.14 GPA during the spring semester. The men's cross country team, which finished second at the 2012 Horizon League Championship, collected a 3.09 team GPA, while the women's golf team turned in a GPA of 3.03.
The women's swimming & diving team achieved a collective GPA of 3.02, while the conference champion women's gymnastics team finished the semester with a 3.0 mark.
