Chicago, Ill. - The UIC Athletics Hall of Fame and Reunion Banquet, held on January 13 at the Carlisle in Lombard, recently welcomed the latest inductees with a warm reception on a chilly winter night.

With 330 members of the Flames community, including 35 previously inducted hall of fame members, gathered to celebrate the evening's festivities, the event was a giant success.

This year's class featured a diverse collection of student-athletes from UIC's storied past.

The career-leader in steals for the Flames women's basketball program from 1991-95, Penny Armstrong still holds the single game school records for most points in a game (42) and steals (10).

Roger Wojtkiewicz, was a three-time NCAA All-American gymnast from 1970-74, including a national title on the Pommel Horse in 1973.

Ron Christopher, a member of the Navy Pier baseball team from 1962-63, co-captained a team that went 22-13 for the season.

Elizabeth Crowder was the first woman to score at a national track and field competition in school history when she placed fifth in the 400 meter final at the AIAW championships in 1979.

Curtis Granderson, a member of the Flames baseball team from 2000-02, is a current standout for the Detroit Tigers, aiding the team to their World Series appearance in 2006.
